Born in 1967 in Madras, Tulsi Badrinath continues to live there. Her first novel Meeting Lives, which was on the 2007 Man Asian Literary Prize longlist as The Living God, will shortly be published by Niyogi Books, India. Her poems, articles, reviews and short-story have appeared in various newspapers and publications. Recently, she was invited to be a juror of Dubasch, an all-India writing contest conducted by the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, Chennai in co-operation with the Sahitya Akademi. She learnt from the age of eight the classical dance-form Bharata Natyam and has performed widely in India and abroad. Melting Love is her second novel.

Melting Love tells the story of an honest curator Harihar Arora at the Madras Museum who pawns an extremely rare gold coin in his custody to meet his daughter's wedding expenses. However, the Finance Company in which he has invested his money collapses and he has no way of redeeming the coin. Harihar hurries to Lodha to plead for the return of the gold coin, only to hear that Lodha has melted the coin for the value of its gold.
